We recently completed a home rebuild following a house fire in Irmo.  How did we eliminate the odor from the smoke?  Owner Jamie Edwards said to use a really good oil based primer on all framing members.  He recommends seeing Tommy at Sherwin Williams in Lexington (the one by the museum).  He can help you with the right product. We have had a few that previously had serious tobacco smokers living in them and we were able to get rid of that smell also without removing sheetrock.
